THE UNFOLDING TALE OF THE CONVERSE SHOE
Rosenberg Shoes loves our large shoe Converse shoe collection. The Converse shoe has never been just your average sneaker; it's always been a bold statement, pushing the boundaries of what kicks can do. Whether you're sinking three-pointers on the court, shredding the half-pipe, or gearing up for a rock concert, Converse has had your back, or rather, your feet.
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Back in 1908, a visionary named Marquis Mills launched the 'Converse Rubber Shoe Company.' They started by crafting rubber-soled footwear (we're talking galoshes) for folks of all ages. In 1910, Converse was churning out shoes like there was no tomorrow. And by 1915, they had a change of heart, deciding to focus their energy on creating athletic shoes.
CHUCK TAYLOR & THE BIRTH OF BASKETBALL ICON
But the real game-changer happened in 1921 when Charles H. "Chuck" Taylor came knocking on Converse's door with sore feet and a big idea. He convinced the company to whip up a line of basketball-specific shoes. One condition was that Chuck would become the shoe salesman and promoter. The All-Star sneaker, although it didn't initially bear his name, was born. Chuck Taylor hit the road, crisscrossing the nation to spread the gospel of the All Stars. His impact was so profound that they eventually slapped his name on those sneakers, right alongside the iconic logo.
A BOLD RETURN TO BASKETBALL
Fast forward to 2019, and Converse made a comeback in the basketball scene with the All-Star Pro BB. It combined decades of court wisdom with cutting-edge basketball tech, promising peak performance and a fresh style that's undeniably Converse.
ICONIC STYLE AND YOUTH CULTURE
The Chuck Taylor All Star has seen it all, representing countless styles and subcultures. Even today, after a century, Chucks still hold their cool factor like no other shoe.
ONE STAR, CONS, AND SKATEBOARDING
In the '70s, low-cut profiles were all the rage. With basketball in Converse's DNA, the One Star and Cons (originally designed for the courts) naturally made the transition to the skateboarding world. The One Star, released in 1974, became a fixture at skateparks worldwide. Its suede upper, rubber sole, and minimalist logo design catapulted it to cultural stardom, both on and off the board. Thrasher magazine was quick to pick up on the sneaker's 'Made in the Suede' tagline for the street and skate scene.
In 1986, the CONS arrived, swiftly becoming the go-to sneaker for skateboarders. In 2009, Converse launched the CONS skate program, featuring legends like Kenny Anderson, Louie Lopez, and Zered Bassett. They took the One Star sneaker on world tours, holding skate demos and signings, cementing it as a skateboarding essential.
CONVERSE PRIDE AND SOCIAL IMPACT
Converse isn't just about sneakers; it's about cultures and inclusivity. In 2017, they spread the message of openness and acceptance with the 'Yes to All' Converse Pride collection, featuring rainbow-themed Chuck Taylors. All proceeds went to It Gets Better and the Happy Hippie Foundation. Converse continues integrating pride into their Social Impact Initiative, championing positive social change.
Converse don't discriminate and has always had lthe arge shoes or plus-sized shoes covered.
A little known fact about converse is that they have been around since 1908. And with that large history comes more than a century's worth of craftsmanship, design, and engineering of shoes for the perfect casual fit.
